Departments


The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) operates through a number of specialized departments that work collaboratively to deliver sustainable electrification solutions across Nigeria. Each department plays a critical role in planning, implementing, and supporting the Agency's programs and initiatives.

Planning, Research & Development (PR&D)

Responsible for strategic planning, research, and innovation within the Agency. The department conducts studies, develops frameworks, and supports evidence-based decision-making for electrification projects and programs. The department also manages the Agency's information systems, digital platforms, and technology infrastructure, including the REA website and data systems.

Project Management Department

Oversees the implementation of electrification projects across the country. Ensures projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in line with technical and operational standards.

Promotions, Information & Outreach (PIO)

Responsible for communication, public engagement, media relations, and stakeholder outreach. Promotes awareness of REA programs and activities.

Rural Electrification Fund (REF) Department

Manages the Rural Electrification Fund, including the administration of grants and funding support for private sector-led electrification projects in underserved communities.

Finance & Accounts Department

Responsible for financial management, budgeting, accounting, and reporting. Ensures transparency and accountability in the use of Agency funds.

Procurement Department

Handles procurement processes, including tendering, contracting, and vendor management in line with government regulations and best practices.

Legal Department

Provides legal advisory services, ensures compliance with applicable laws, and manages contracts, agreements, and regulatory matters.

Human Resources & Administration

Manages staff recruitment, welfare, training, and administrative services to support effective operations of the Agency.

Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E)

Tracks and evaluates the performance of projects and programs. Ensures accountability, impact measurement, and continuous improvement.

Internal Audit

Provides independent assurance on financial and operational processes. Ensures compliance with policies and promotes transparency and accountability.
